Smart commissions fourth extrusion press
As a result of the company’s ongoing investment programme, earlier this year, Smart completed the latest phase of its expansion programme, with a fourth extrusion press and fourth paint line both being commissioned into operation. The new, state-of-the-art extrusion press was designed to Smart’s specification and is the company’s most energy efficient press yet, using 33% less energy, and reflecting its objective of continually innovating to provide an ever more efficient and sustainable production facility.
Commenting on the commissioning, Smart’s CEO, Eddie Robinson, said: “Our 60,000m² manufacturing facility in the south west of England was already the largest single-site extrusion plant in the UK, but following the installation of this fourth press, we now provide both a dedicated resource and guaranteed capacity for all our extrusion customers.”
With its extrusion, machining, finishing and packaging processes all on one site, as well as the company’s own fleet of delivery vehicles, Smart retains complete control of every customer order, from receipt right through to final delivery. And with standard lead times of just two weeks, Smart’s experienced support team works closely with customers to enable them to reduce their stock holding and to meet their supply chain requirements, working in close partnership to fully understand each customer’s specific requirements.
Eddie Robinson continued: “With a capability that covers not only extrusion, but also a wide range of machining and finishing options, we are proud to provide a complete service for all our customers, from design to delivery, all from our fully integrated manufacturing and distribution base.”
